COVID-19: Small Business Information
Access Health knows the value of small business to our community. For twenty years, we have worked in partnership with our community’s small business to support health improvement in Muskegon. As we come together to address COVID-19, we are committed to supporting small businesses and their workers.
We are working to maintain information to help our business sponsors. Please know that state and federal policy is changing on a daily basis. If you have questions about how to navigate health coverage for your workers, we are still just a phone call away. Just call us at (231) 728-5180.
Financial Relief for Michigan Small Businesses
Payroll Protection Program
The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) provides financial relief for small businesses through funds to pay up to 8 weeks of payroll costs, including health benefits. Funds can also be used to pay interest on mortgages, rent, and utilities. Funds are provided in the form of loans eligible to be fully forgiven when used for payroll costs, interest on mortgages, rent, and utilities.
Eligibility: Businesses with 500 or fewer employees—including nonprofits, veteran organizations, tribal concerns, self-employed individuals, sole proprietorships, and independent contractors— affected by COVID-19 are eligible. Businesses with more than 500 employees are eligible in certain industries.
Timing: It is best to apply as soon as possible, as funds are expected to run out.
How to Apply: PPP loans are available only though SBA certified banks and credit unions. It’s often best to start by calling your existing bank or credit union. The application is available here: PPP Loan Application.
